Fixing Melted Shrumfuzed Chocolates in Blister Packs

How to Handle Heat Exposure Without Losing Your Dose

Shrumfuzed takes pride in crafting functional, thoughtfully dosed chocolate that delivers both quality and consistency. But chocolate is a sensitive ingredient—and like all good things, it needs to be treated with care. Whether you’re storing your Shrumfuzed chocolates at home or they’ve just arrived in the mail, it’s possible for chocolate to soften or melt if exposed to heat above 75°F (24°C). Fortunately, because we package our chocolate in blister packs, it’s easier to manage—and in many cases, fix. Here’s what to do if your chocolate melts, and how to recover it safely.

First: Why Does Chocolate Melt?

Chocolate is naturally temperature-sensitive. Even when properly tempered, it begins to soften in warmer conditions—especially during summer months, long shipping routes, or improper storage. Melted chocolate isn’t harmful, but it can:
  • Lose its shape
  • Stick to the blister pack
  • Develop “bloom” (a white or dull appearance from fat or sugar separation)
We use blister packaging to minimize the damage and make recovery as headache-free as possible.

Step-by-Step: What to Do if Your Shrumfuzed Chocolate Melts

Let It Cool Gradually

Place the blister pack upside down—with the foil side facing up—in a cool, dry area, ideally between 60–68°F (15–20°C). (For faster results, you can also use the freezer.) Allow the chocolate to rest undisturbed for several hours, or until it has fully solidified.

Assess the Condition

Once cooled, inspect the chocolate:
  • If the shape is intact: You’re good to go.
  • If it’s slightly misshapen: It’s still fully usable.
  • If it’s stuck to the blister: Continue to Step 3.
Remember: Changes in appearance don’t affect potency or safety—your dose remains accurate.

Remove Stuck Pieces (If Needed)

If chocolate is stuck in the blister compartment:
  • Press gently from the bottom of the blister to release the piece.
  • If needed, warm the underside slightly with your hand or a soft cloth to loosen it.
  • Avoid using force—this helps maintain structure and prevents breakage.

Why Shrumfuzed Uses Blister Packaging

We chose blister packs for a reason:
  • Dose protection: Each piece contains the intended dose. No surprises, no guesswork.
  • Structure support: The rigid form helps chocolates retain their shape—even during heat exposure.
  • Cleaner handling: No sticky fingers or compromised doses.
This packaging helps us reduce waste, preserve potency, and give you confidence in every bite—even if the journey gets a little warm.

How to Prevent Melting in the Future

  • Store in a cool, dry place—ideally under 70°F (21°C).
  • Avoid direct sunlight or hot cars.
  • Refrigerate only if necessary, and always bring to room temp before opening to avoid condensation.

We design every part of your experience—from ingredients to packaging—with intention. That includes helping you get the most out of your product, even in less-than-ideal conditions.
